Football is a sport of many faces, and FC Barcelona is a club accustomed to most of them. Despite the daunting economic troubles and limited spending abilities, Barcelona is on an upward trajectory, thanks to strategic signings and smart management decisions. However, certain positions within the Barça setup definitely need new recruits to reinforce them.

While the pivot position is being widely considered to be worth adding fresh blood into, there is a lack of depth elsewhere as well. Pointing to the frontline, FC Barcelona lacks a depth of specialists in terms of a pure left-winger.

On the contrary, Barça instead possesses quite the jackpot when it comes to their right-wingers. Stars like the tricky Raphinha, in-form Ferran Torres and 16-year-old Lamine Yamal are all constantly fighting for a place in the starting eleven. On the left, it is only Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix who is left as the natural selection for Xavi Hernandez.

This inability to be able to count on more or less anyone else for the left wing could be crucially detrimental for Barcelona. Moreover, given that they do not possess any ‘extreme’ of a left-winger, the task of breaking through the opposition defense is left up to Alejandro Balde.

As such, in their hunt for a new left-winger, Barcelona have stumbled upon a particular Premier League star. According to Mundo Deportivo, this chosen star is none other than 26-year-old Kaoru Mitoma. The Japanese winger is currently one of the most electric talents in the English Premier League.

Hailing from Japanese youth sides, the young Japanese star possesses a great deal of impressive abilities. Known for his passing. dribbling and ability to take on entire defenses by himself, there is no denying that he could end up fitting Barcelona like a glove.

The Barcelona coaching staff remain thoroughly impressed with him. His understanding of the game as well as his technical brilliance to support it have both been great attractions for other interested suitors as well as the Barcelona coaches.

With his contract set to run out in 2025, his current club Brighton may just end up having to sell him as soon as possible if a renewal deal does not materialise. After next season, the Japanese gem may just end up leaving for free with only a year left in his contract by then.

Interestingly, Barca’s original left-winger Ansu Fati also continues to play for Brighton. On loan currently, the La Masia product is also working to hone his abilities and redirect his struggling career back onto the right path.
