The world of football can be an unforgiving place, and Barcelona are quite aware of that. La Blaugrana went from their highs of last season with the La Liga title in their hands to their now well-noticeable struggles. Such as the footballing world, and Barcelona are just one of its victims.

Another victim of such a case and scenario just so happens to be English outfit Newcastle United. After experiencing some great highs last season and proving themselves to be among the great competitors in England, they have hit a poor decline right away in this ongoing subsequent season for them.

Struggling in the Premier League as they sit 9th in the league, they are also out of all active European competitions. Moreover, one of their star players and a major Barcelona target, Bruno Guimaraes, does not seem too thrilled by it.

In fact, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, he spoke in a recent interview and said that he does not exactly feel at his best with the situation:

“This season has been a mix of things for me. I want more victories and, at least, to return the club to Europe.”

Moreover, he highlighted how disappointed and tired he was with how things have been recently:

“I’m very disappointed with how the season has gone; it’s really been crazy. We have 2-3 games where we’re doing very well, then 2-3 where we’re doing very poorly… I’m really tired and disappointed.”

However, the Barcelona target also reaffirmed that his goals lie in helping Newcastle find their best version again “(Lifting a title) That’s what I want. We’ll see what happens, but it’s exactly what I want for this club.”

Moreover, he believes that the love and affection he has received from the fans and people of Newcastle is something beyond anything he has felt before:

“I’m enjoying it a lot here. I’ve never felt so loved at a club before. It’s beautiful to see how much the fans love me.”

Yet, life may not be that easy for the English side in the Premier League. Already facing issues with financial fair play, they may be forced to part ways with some important players in the summer.

With their Brazilian midfielder being one of their most lucrative assets, his possible departure and the interest of Barcelona could provide them the cushion they need as they are forced to sell. However, Guimaraes still remains a rather expensive option, and Barcelona do have other names on their agenda.
