From the multiple young prospects that FC Barcelona are currently eyeing, Vitor Roque is arguably the most exciting and promising one. Still only 17 years old, his performances have caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world.
The latest showcase of Roque’s talent has been his performances in the South American Under 20 cup. Brazil has won the latest edition of this tournament, having last won this cup when they were represented by Neymar, 12 years ago.
Between Neymar’s time and Roque’s appearance, the Selecao had four consecutive disappointments in this tournament. This time with Roque, the Brazil team dominated the championship, as they went through the tournament undefeated, and having defeated Uruguay 2-0 in the final in Bogota, Colombia.
While this victory was definitely a team effort from the entire squad, still Vitor Roque was the most shining performer in the team. He scored 6 goals in the tournament and was key player for this Brazil team. As a result, his stock has risen further in the aftermath of the tournament, while he was already a highly valuable asset prior to this triumph
As already reported, FC Barcelona have long been interested in the young attacker. Their interest in the player goes back to last October. Recent comments from the Athletico Paranaense President, Mário Celso Petraglia, further confirm this interest, who recently shared that there is a race to sign the youngster, but there is still no clear destination for Roque as of now as per the reports from Mundo Deportivo.
Estimates from Mundo Deportivo hold the player to be valued by this current club at €35-40 million, a price similar to that which was commanded by Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Paquetá when they moved to Europe from Brazil.
