FC Barcelona have a number of targets for this upcoming summer transfer window. A chief priority among these targets are reinforcements for Barcelona’s defense. There are a handful of select targets that the Blaugrana feel are a good blend between sporting and economic prospectives for the club.

Frankfurt’s Defensive Insurance:

One such player is French central defender Evan Ndicka, a 23-year-old left-footed defender who currently plies his trade at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. His last visit to the Spotify Camp Nou does leave a sour taste given that it was at the hands of him and his side that Barcelona were knocked out of last season’s UEFA Europa League.

However, given the positive talks ongoing in recent times and the financial viability of signing such a player whose contract expires in June of 2023, he becomes a possible asset for Barcelona next season.

Mourinho and Roma:

On the contrary, as time passes, more and more suitors emerge. The likes of PSG, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Sevilla, Real Betis, Juventus, and Liverpool are just a few of them. Most recently, the interest of Jose Mourinho and Roma has emerged as the new contender to sign the player as per the reports from Mundo Deportivo. Mourinho, currently contracted to Serie A side Roma, has a few set demands for the Italian club if they wish to renew his close-approaching contract expiry.

The Portuguese manager insists on adding reinforcements to his current squad, which would allow him to realistically compete for the Serie A title. One such mentioned reinforcement is Evan Ndicka, whose free transfer seems to be an exciting prospect to not just the Catalans perhaps.

Barcelona and their urgency:

FC Barcelona will need to remain steadfast and persuasive in their negotiations while being fully aware that they are currently unable to compete with the other interested clubs in terms of financial offerings. Not wanting to be a part of any potential bidding war, it would be in Barca’s best interests to ensure a quick resolution to this chapter.
