As the summer transfer window truly kicks off, so do various dilemmas for FC Barcelona and their sporting sector. The Catalans continue to scour the transfer realms of Europe to look for cost-effective recruitments that would also ideally amplify and improve the team.
Such a target has indeed been found in La Liga, and more importantly, Alemany has assured Xavi he would be able to bring him in for just €10 million.
Yannick Carrasco is a 29-year-old left winger from Atletico Madrid that FC Barcelona fans are all too familiar with. His pace and skills have previously caused the Catalan giants multiple problems during games against Atleti, and the Belgian wide player is now reportedly also willing to join La Blaugrana should a formal offer arrive for him.
The winger is appreciated by Xavi and his technical team and also presents an economically viable and talented recruitment. The player would cost FC Barcelona a transfer fee of €15 million, courtesy of a clause that was agreed upon when FC Barcelona sold Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid that would consequently allow the Catalans to pursue the Belgian winger for said amount.
Currently valued at €25 million on Transfermarkt, Barcelona would end up acquiring the player, should they go for him, for a price much lower than what Atletico Madrid would otherwise have asked for. However, the arrival of the player is also quite dependent on the arrival of another Barcelona forward, currently out on loan.
Ez Abde is currently plying his trade out on loan at CA Osasuna, where he is enjoying a great and progressive season. The player has improved considerably and has added defensive work-rate to his already incredible list of traits.
His arrival and welcome back to Barcelona has also been credited by Mateu Alemany, Barca’s current Director of Football, as being merited and “earned“.
Should Abde return, Barcelona would realistically have two options. One, keep the youngster and play him as their left winger next season, free of any transfer costs as he already belongs to the club. Or two, consider incoming offers for Abde and generate the entire amount of revenue earned as profit, since he is an academy player, and then proceed to go for Yannick Carrasco.
