Barcelona target Ilkay Gundogan with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson

FC Barcelona are well aware of the fact that they must act quickly in ensuring the arrivals of their various summer targets before other rival European clubs beat them to their desired acquisitions.

One player whose future the Catalan club hopes to tie with their own is Ilkay Gundogan of Manchester City. The 32-year-old German midfielder continues to attract Barcelona and his signing is one that the club considers has the potential to be transformative.

In a recent report by SPORT where they interviewed Brazilian International and teammate of Gundogan at Manchester City, Ederson, and has his say regarding the future of his German teammate following their club side’s impressive treble-winning season.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is set to play an international friendly at the RCDE Stadium of Espanyol and was thus met with the Barcelona-based media outlet SPORT’s representative, who went on to talk to him as they began questioning him regarding Gundogan’s potential decision for the future. The goalkeeper stated:

I hope Ilkay makes the best decision for him and his family. And I hope he stays at City, he’s our captain and he’s a very important player. I didn’t talk to him about his future, but I am confident that his home next year will be City.

It remains clear that Manchester City and former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola are trying their personal best to convince Gundogan to stay, as he remains both their captain and an extremely important player for them. His goals in particular across all competitions can be looked back at as some of the most decisive moments for Manchester City’s season.

As per other reports, a final decision and answer from Gundogan is expected soon, amidst speculation that clubs from Saudi Arabia are also hovering over his current situation given his expiring contract. Barcelona must act fast if they wish to bring the German to Catalonia without any complications whatsoever.
