In recent days, FC Barcelona has been linked to several youngsters dominating the midfield space across Europe and even South America. Ranging from promising central midfielders to reliable defensive midfielders, Barcelona remains a global hub for youth talent development.

Two such players that have been linked to the Catalan giants recently are Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo and Royal Antwerp gem Arthur Vermeeren. Both starlets possess their own unique traits, but it appears that a more detailed analysis of the latter has now been revealed.

According to the report on the player provided by Mundo Deportivo journalist Gabriel Sans, sources that have a more in-depth opinion on the young Belgian have reportedly given Sans a better outlook on the player currently being linked to FC Barcelona.

“A young player with a lot of football and talent, in constant progression but nothing more.”

Through their words, it becomes clear that while he definitely shows progression, there is still none of that star factor that most top European clubs often reach out for. Most talented youngsters possess technical gifts, but only the select few that rise to the echelons of world football possess something special.

While his goal contributions directly may not necessarily be worth applauding, it’s clear that he does possess gifts that are attracting attention from certain interested clubs. Following a game in January, where the player was on the field for the entirety of the 90 minutes for Royal Antwerp, an initial report on his talents stated the following:

“Showing a lot of personality and a great tactical and positional sense.”

However, it appears that FC Barcelona is not the only club invested and interested in the development of the player. Scouts from West Ham, Borussia Dortmund, and Monaco were all involved in assessing the quality of the player in case a future prospect can be seen in him.

Yet, according to this report by MD, the strongest interest arrives from the city of Manchester, where the Red Devils and Erik Ten Haag believe that his incorporation would be a truly welcome arrival at a resurgent Manchester United side.

Within Belgian, the report states, the player has even been compared to the qualities and abilities of Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta. While comparisons such as this often hold little to no merit, it is still a sign of the regard that he is held in by those who follow the Belgian First Division.

For now, the player remains contracted to Royal Antwerp until 2025 and it is believed by those within Barcelona that his arrival would be costly given the valuation that his club currently places him at.

Interested fans will still be able to see him play at the Montjuic Stadium however, as the 18-year-old is set to visit FC Barcelona with Royal Antwerp for the opening game of their respective UEFA Champions League Group Stage campaign.
