Alas, it comes down to the final four of the Copa Del Ray. FC Barcelona are amongst this season’s contenders for the King’s cup as they’ve reached the semi-finals in the 2022/2023 session of the tournament.
Following the draws that just occurred today, it has been confirmed that Barcelona’s opponents in the semi-finals will be none other than El Clasico rivals Real Madrid. FC Barcelona have reached this stage thanks to an exceptional performance against Real Sociedad in the Copa Del Ray quarter-finals, despite the 1-0 scoreline.
Previous opponents that Barcelona has thus far overcome to reach this stage included AC Ceuta, Intercity, and Real Sociedad in the last round. They won a thrilling 4-3 encounter against Intercity CF initially, before going on to demolish AD Ceuta 5-0 and then their most recent 1-0 victory over Sociedad solidifying their final 4 place.
Apart from Barcelona themselves, the other semi-final draw has been drawn out to be a clash between Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona’s fixture will be a two-legged affair and will take place on the 1/2nd of March and find their conclusions on the 4/5/6th of April 2023.
