While not being directly involved, FC Barcelona are keeping a close eye on several transfer operations going on in the market for some of their former players.

The Catalans will receive a share of any fees obtained from the transfers of players like Juan Miranda, Jean Claire Todibo, and Ez Abde, but, as already reported here, the chances of any of these players changing clubs in January are diminishing for now.

In addition to these players, Mika Marmol is another former player for Barcelona on whom the Catalans have a right to get 50% of any future transfer fee.

The centre-back has been playing at a high level at Las Palmas and is one of the established starters in the team that Barcelona will face in their first match of 2024. He is one of the most in-demand defenders in Spain in this winter window.

The player has a €30 million release clause in his Las Palmas contract, and, among other clubs, Atletico Madrid are interested in getting him. Diego Simeone likes the defender, and Atletico are looking for a player who can replace Savic in their squad, as the Montenegrin has lost his starting place with the Mattress Makers.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, a move to Madrid is highly complicated as of now. Atletico Madrid have started negotiations from a point even below half the release clause of the player, which is not acceptable for the Canarians. Furthermore, the Madrid club is also more focused on the renewal of Mario Hermoso’s renewal.

Las Palmas will accept only a significantly tempting offer for Marmol, as they know that Barcelona will be getting one-half of the proceeds. As the Canarians will be unable to get a proper replacement for Marmol with the remaining funds, they are not too keen to let him go at a low price.
