FC Barcelona face Getafe for the La Liga opener, which is scheduled for tonight. The Catalans would be unable to play this game in their usual garnet and blue kit because they will be playing away from home.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club would also not be wearing their second white kit because this kit color coincides with the kit color of their opposing team, Getafe. Thus, the Blaugranes will open their La Liga campaign in the Senyera colors.
Getafe play in a completely blue kit, and their colors strongly resemble the colors of the Barcelona first kit, which has a darker blue color this season, while also having blue shorts and socks.
Similarly, Barcelona also wear blue shorts with their second kit, which has a white shirt. While the shirt would differ from Getafe’s shirt, the shorts would still be of similar colors, which can create confusion, and thus the second kit is also ruled out.
Another problem for the club is that the third kit for this season is still not officially released, which is expected to be of a turquoise blue color. Thus, as none of these kits will be usable in this match, Barcelona would have to play in the yellow kit.
Barcelona had very successful versions of the Senyera kit in recent years, and a new variant of this yellow kit was presented in January 2023, and Barcelona has worn it in the match against Girona at the Montilivi. Now, Barcelona will be wearing the yellow kit once again tonight, with the hopes of getting a positive start to the 2023-24 season.
