Barcelona to let go of La Masia star rather than €30 million rated forward

FC Barcelona have a ton of work to carry out this summer. After the approval of the Feasibility Plan from La Liga, it is necessary for the Blaugrana to execute the exit operations that would allow them to move forward with their squad planning.

On the way to the exit door, Barcelona have shortlisted a few players that are deemed fringe assets and capable of bringing in profits. Frank Kessie, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres have been constantly rumored to be excluded from the squad.

In a recent revelation by MARCA, Barcelona are currently more inclined to sell Ansu Fati rather than Ferran Torres, who Xavi admires.

Ferran was one of Xavi’s initial signings and came for a fee of €55 million. The Spaniard has Xavi’s trust reportedly, despite a tumultuous time at the Catalan club so far.

While Fati has produced considerably better statistics over the course of the campaign, he appears to have one foot out of the club already. The youngster secured the second most goals in the team after Lewandowski.

On the surface, it seems that Ferran is being trusted more due to Xavi’s preference of the player, but the case is multilayered.

One of the reasons Barcelona are more inclined to sell Ansu Fati rather than Ferran is due to the fact that the former City forward has a great deal of amortization attached to himself, so his sale would consequently end up in a loss, as per FFP rules.

On the other hand, Ansu’s sale would be a total profit. Having played at Barcelona his entire career, the 20-year-old gives the Catalan giants a greater incentive to sell him.

While both players portray potential, Barcelona have more pressing matters to deal with. The midfield is looked to be a high-priority department, in need of reinforcements.

However, before bolstering the squad with new signings, exits have to be made, and at the moment Fati’s exit garners more consensus from the Barcelona board.

  1. Xavi told Ferran he wont get any playtime next season and told him to leave Barca. Ferran should be sold as soon as possible and keep as far from any football pitch ever again, and Fati should stay or go away on a rental basis to return after a year
