Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati

Barcelona to make a decision on 20-year-old winger’s future by this week – report

FC Barcelona have a lot of work to do as they approach the last few days of the summer transfer window. The first operation to be completed is the signing of Joao Cancelo on a season-long loan from Manchester City, but the club would still have to complete a number of other operations after winding this one up.

After getting Cancelo, the Catalans aim to register all the players who have their registration with La Liga still pending, including Marcos Alonso, Inigo Martinez, and Inaki Pena. Then the club would focus all its energies on bringing in another attacking player.

Ansu one of the candidates to be offloaded

However, before the club can introduce another player into the squad, they will have to sell one of their existing players. According to SPORT, Ansu Fati is one of the candidates for such a sale, particularly if the player accepts leaving the club and a good offer comes in for him. This week would be decisive for Fati as the club will make a decision about his future in the coming days.

To further advance the operation for Ansu’s exit, Jorge Mendes, Fati’s agent, will visit Barcelona after the Cancelo operation is concluded, which requires only the last few details to be completed.

Mendes knows that there are two clubs from the Premier League interested in the youngster, but he will not force Ansu to make a decision, and everything is in the hands of the player himself.

Up to now, Ansu Fati has been clear that he does not want to leave Barcelona and wants to succeed with the club. However, he has been made aware that he will not have an active role in the squad this season, so if a big club offers him a more active role, he may make his mind up about a move.

Barcelona value Fati but believe game time is necessary for his growth

Executives at FC Barcelona understand that the situation is still very difficult, but nothing can be ruled out for now. Ansu still has some years left in his contract with Barcelona, and the club also considers him to be an asset, but the Catalans believe that Fati’s value will fall further if he continues without game time. To allow Fati more time on the pitch, the club can also send him on a loan.

Barcelona are proceeding with caution in this regard, but they understand that Fati’s departure can significantly lower their wage bill burden. They have also communicated to Mendes that Felix can arrive at the Catalan capital this summer only if Fati departs.

Ferran Torres is likely to remain at the club because it is impossible to sell him without making losses and he is also considered an effective substitute for Lewandowski in the attack.
