FC Barcelona have significantly strengthened their squad over the summer transfer window, and have brought reinforcements for almost all the areas of the team.
However, one area which saw a net decrease in the number of players was the forward line, which saw Dembele, Fati, and Abde all depart, while only Felix was inducted.
Another player was also signed to strengthen the attack, the Brazilian sensation, Vitor Roque, but he is not expected to arrive at the club till January next year.
According to SPORT, Vitor Roque is the only player expected to join up with the Catalans in the winter window. Barcelona signed him during the recently closed summer transfer window for €30 million up-front and another €31 million in bonuses.
Economic problems and a balanced squad
The economic hardships faced by the club and its problems with FFP mean that FC Barcelona will not have much room for more signings in the upcoming transfer window. Thus, the club and the coaching staff are not pushing for another signing other than that of the Brazilian in the coming transfer window.
Much activity in the winter window is not needed either, as the club already has a highly balanced squad. The defense and midfield areas are both highly competitive and the main starters in the areas are well-covered with the presence of high-quality substitutes.
With Roque’s arrival, Lewandowski will also get a cover, and the team will enjoy a highly reliable depth for the rest of the season.
FC Barcelona actually tried to bring in Vitor Roque this summer as well. However, the player is an integral part of the Athletico Paranaense squad and is their most reliable and high-quality forward. Thus, the Brazilians were unwilling to part with him in the summer.
