Barcelona to prioritize the renewal of French winger

FC Barcelona, with manager Xavi Hernandez in particular, consider renewing Ousmane Dembele’s contract as soon as possible an absolute priority. With his current contract running out by 2024, the Catalan club are planning a quicker and more efficient path to a contract extension to guarantee his continuity beyond the previously mentioned duration.

Moreover, Barcelona wanted to show a clear resolve when it came to Dembele’s case, as the club regards his choice to stay at Barca with quite a notable respect, and would prefer to resolve and increase his contract’s duration as effectively as possible as per the recent reports from SPORT. They also wish to have certainty knowing that they do not need to worry about Dembele’s contract situation turning out as it did before.

Alongside Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele was the most deployed forward in the squad under Xavi and has found a string of excellent performances under the Spanish manager, mainly for his club. This concurrent excellence during this season is what prompted Barcelona and Xavi to be keen on extending his contract promptly.

Reportedly, Dembele is quite happy and content with his own decision regarding which club to play for and choosing FC Barcelona as the choice in question. The team from Catalonia seem to have a tactical approach and environment within the team that allows him to shine, thus making the Frenchman feel comfortable in the environment of the club itself, as well as feel valued through that success.

At the moment, Barcelona also believe that Dembele would not garner too much external attention from other clubs due to his rather subpar performances in the FIFA World Cup 2022, allowing the Catalans to consider it a more than astute option to assess and progress with talks. As it stands, Barcelona’s primary priority remains the renewal of the player, whereas even though a sale exists as an option nonetheless, it is one that they don’t wish to execute.
