Having brought a number of high-profile players during the last summer transfer window, FC Barcelona executives have their work cut out once again for the upcoming transfer window.

This time around, registering the contracts of players already at the club with La Liga is a priority, while new signings will be worked only after these registrations have been finalized as per the report of Mundo Deportivo.

Registering the contracts of players has been at the top of the club’s list of priorities for some time now. While agreements between these players and the club have already been finalized, La Liga has not recognized these renewals because of the wage cap restrictions.

Recently, Gavi’s contract was registered with La Liga only after the league was compelled by a Mercantile Court in Barcelona to do it. La Liga has appealed against this decision, and it is still not certain whether this contract will hold in the future. Thus, the club would have to be ready for any decision, and work on a more conservative contract with Gavi, if the Court gives a decision in La Liga’s favor.

The club faces a similar situation in regards to RonaldmAraujo’s contract. The player and the club have already finalized and signed a new contract, but La Liga still only recognizes his old contract. His new contract goes up to 2026, and only his registration with La Liga remains the final step to complete the process of his renewal.

Two other contract registrations are also in the pipeline at FC Barcelona. Marcos Alonso signed a contract renewal with the club, which now makes him a FC Barcelona player till June 2024. Sergi Roberto is the other player with a contract renewal, also added another year to his contract with the club last week.

However, registering these new contracts with La Liga would involve meeting the financial fair play regulations set by La Liga. Once these contracts have been sorted, the club can look towards making signings to further strengthen the squad.
