Barcelona to receive 40% of former fullback’s potential transfer fee – report

Former Barcelona defender Juan Miranda

Barcelona continue to attempt to find various means which would allow them to generate additional funds in order to help them integrate new arrivals as well as be able to register players not yet registered with their new contracts.

In recent weeks, various departures such as those of Frenchman Ousmane Dembele and Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie from FC Barcelona have been confirmed and in turn, have allocated additional funds in the books of the Catalan giants.

However, Barcelona believe additional income will be necessary for the club to progress with their other targets over the course of the remaining summer transfer window, and the club could possibly gain a small boost from the sale of a former player.

Juan Miranda, former Barcelona fullback and currently contracted to Real Betis, could be set to join a new club this summer and according to details provided by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona currently maintain a 40% sell-on clause within the agreement.

Even though the report does not specify any particular transfer fee for his departure, they are aware at least of the percentage that Barcelona would be entitled to in case the sale takes place and that English Premier League side Fulham could be one of the interested clubs for his signature.

Currently, the player’s contract with Real Betis is set to expire next year in June of 2024, but negotiations for a renewal continue since, in the scenario that the player does end up getting sold, both Barcelona and Real Betis will end up as beneficiaries.

However, if the player does not get sold nor does he renew, the sell-on clause becomes invalid once he becomes a free agent and then neither Barcelona nor Los Verdiblancos would benefit at all from his sale as he would walk away without any transfer fee associated to him.
