Barcelona to rely on young winger amidst Brazilian star’s two-match suspention

Following the goalless draw that occurred between FC Barcelona and Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in the first La Liga fixture of the season for both teams, there are several repercussions the Catalan giants have to face beyond just the singular point they managed to come away with.

26-year-old Brazilian winger Raphinha is one of the primary casualties of the rather physical encounter against Getafe, having come away from the game with a red card and a two-game suspension to his name.

While Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was also dismissed during the game, his loss would not be felt on the pitch and does not need a direct replacement from a stylistic perspective as would Raphinha.

Consequently, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona may look to utilize Moroccan winger Ez Abde as the replacement for Raphinha for the upcoming clashes, with the next one against Cadiz being the priority for the Catalans.

The 21-year-old Moroccan fits the profile of a disruptive winger the best after Raphinha in the squad and Xavi may look to count on him for the upcoming clash for Barcelona given that Raphinha would not be available.

Other options also exist for Barcelona to test out but they are not the same from a stylistic perspective, as the likes of Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and even 16-year-old Lamine Yamal could all be possible contenders to be deployed as the winger profile to be used alongside Robert Lewandowski, but their effectiveness is based more on efficiency rather than their disruptive capabilities.
