FC Barcelona remain assured that arrivals over the course of the summer will continue, but it is certain that such scenarios will only be possible if adequate exits take place.
For now, the need for extra firepower in the offensive lines is what Xavi Hernandez considers one of his priorities alongside the need for a new pivot and second striker, one to replace the departing Sergio Busquets and the other to provide rest to Robert Lewandowski respectively.
As per the latest revelations by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona currently intends on ensuring the sale of Spanish forward Ferran Torres in the range of €40 million and above, which is speculated to be around the amount of amortization still yet to be paid off for his initial transfer in last season’s winter transfer window.
Moreover, should Barcelona successfully manage to ensure the Spaniard’s departure for the price that they are hoping for, it would consequently ensure the arrival of Yannick Carrasco for a fee around the valuation of €15 million due to a clause agreed upon by both FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid when the transfer of Memphis Depay took place.
The arrival of the Belgian could provide additional depth on the wings as the player possesses both traditional winger attributes and can be deployed as a false winger of sorts.
Ferran Torres has undoubtedly lost importance in the grand scheme for Barcelona that Xavi Hernandez has mapped in his mind. The player, similar to Ansu Fati, will lose even more prominence next season as the Catalan club hopes to recruit even more offensive depth for the upcoming 2023/2024 campaign.
Courtesy of his time and importance under the tutelage of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, the Belgian winger has learned to adapt to both offensive and defensive duties simultaneously.
Moreover, experience in France and China, having played for Ligue 1 side Monaco and Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang respectively, has helped mold the player into a versatile talent that Xavi Hernandez would deeply appreciate having at his disposal.
It now remains to be seen just how efficiently Barcelona can process the sale of Ferran Torres and how quickly they can manage to find a potential suitor willing to take the Spaniard away from the Catalans if any such opportunity does present itself.
