It has been almost one year since the day Spain took on Georgia in an international match with little consequence. It is a day that has since emerged as a black mark in the hearts of FC Barcelona fans because of what transpired.

One of Barcelona’s biggest talents and most important players – Gavi, tore his ACL playing in the meaningless game against Georgia. He has since been out of action, as he works his way back to full fitness.

With every passing day, Barcelona fans are closer to seeing the return of Gavi. He has been ‘flying in training‘, and is close to returning to first-team action after the international break.

It had emerged that Hansi Flick was considering calling up Gavi for the game against Sevilla immediately after the international break on October 20. Should he get an opportunity to play, it would mark an incredible moment for the 20-year-old.

However, as per SPORT, Barcelona plan to err on the side of caution when it comes to Gavi and will not run the risk of him suffering a relapse by rushing him back. Even if he made the squad list against Sevilla, there is no guarantee that he would play.

The report explains that Barcelona will wait for the right moment to reintroduce Gavi depending on the state of the game and the opposition. For example, in high-intensity games like Bayern and Real Madrid, the €90m-rated Spaniard will not be risked.

If there’s one thing you can say with certainty about Gavi, it’s that once he’s on the pitch, there’s no stopping him. He gives 100% every time, and asking him to be cautious simply isn’t in his nature.

Barcelona need to step in and make sure their star boy makes a safe return. It is important to be patient and recover his best version and only time will tell how long it takes for fans to see Gavi in action again.
