The quest at FC Barcelona to look for the successor of Xavi Hernandez on the bench is still going on without any major breakthrough. The Catalans are looking at several options for this role, but are yet to finalize the name of any one of them.
However, some of the names that were earlier linked with the club are now looking less likely to join the Catalan club. This is especially the case with the current Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp.
As SPORT has noted, the German has no plans of turning back on his word on taking a sabbatical for the next year, as he believes that he is too fatigued to keep coaching at the top level.
Still, Barcelona had tried to bring him to Spain, but everything indicates that it would be impossible to convince him to take the reins at the Catalan club.
In addition to Barcelona, the German club Bayern Munich had also tried to get Klopp to lead their next sporting project. However, the information the Bavarians have got also indicates that the German would not be open to taking up a coaching job next season.
While getting Klopp for the next season will be difficult, FC Barcelona can still hope to sign him down the road, as the German would prioritize taking a job in Spain before returning to the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have also rejected another coach linked to Barcelona, Hansi Flick, as the Bavarians want to bet firmly on Xabi Alonso for the upcoming season.
In this regard, the Bundesliga champions are hopeful they will be able to land the Bayer Leverkusen coach, but the former midfielder is currently fully focused on his job at hand.
Thus, with Klopp and Alonso both out of the race, Barcelona will now have a smaller list to choose Xavi’s successor, but more time will be needed by the club to arrive at a final name.
