The ability of La Masia to develop world-class talents and produce high-ceiling players is no secret. The current crop of players coming up from the youth ranks of Barcelona academy includes some highly exciting names, among which Lamine Yamal is perhaps the most prominent one.
The youngster has developed rapidly in the last few years and has been strengthening his reputation as a prolific goal scorer in the lower levels of Spanish football. The player is currently also a part of the Spain under-16 team, with which he has made 4 appearances and scored 1 goal. And while still being only 15 years old, he has established himself as an integral part of the Juvenil A team.
FC Barcelona see the youngster as a highly talented player, who has the potential to become one of the top players in Europe. Thus, Xavi has already called him up to train with the first team. However, as the player turns 16 in July, the club is now working towards preparing a professional contract offer for Yamal, which will help keep him tied with the club and fend off the interest from other top clubs interested in him.
As per the reports from Mundo Deportivo, the club is currently considering a contract offer of 3 years, which will also see an increased wage for the player, as well as a high release clause. The club is optimistic about the acceptance of such a contract, especially as the club already has a working relationship with his agent, Ivan de la Pena, who also represents Gavi and Eric Garcia.
However, before being able to get him tied to the club with a professional contract, the club would have to solve their Financial Fair Play wage limit problems, which are currently an obstacle in the renewal of other more important players.
