Barcelona veteran contemplates future alongside Messi for One Last Dance

Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is carefully considering his future and despite having received an offer from the Catalan giants, he appears in no rush to make a decision. The talismanic midfielder is planning his future alongside that of Lionel Messi and is inclined to continue his tenure with the Blaugrana because he is confident that the Argentine superstar will return to the club this summer.

However, Busquets’ aspirations are not limited to playing with Messi for another season at Camp Nou, as the duo envisage continuing their footballing careers together, be it in the United States or in the lucrative league of Saudi Arabia.

Reports suggest that multiple Major League Soccer (MLS) teams have expressed their interest in the duo, with Inter Miami having previously held talks with both players. Alternatively, the Saudi Pro League giants have already presented them with significant financial incentives, with Messi being offered a staggering annual salary of almost €400 million.

Yet, the decision to extend his stay at the Catalan club is not solely based on monetary considerations. In fact, the club’s offer for Busquets’ contract renewal has been significantly lower than his current wage, indicating that the Spaniard’s primary motive lies in his camaraderie with Messi and the desire to play alongside him.

The highly rated midfield maestro is a vital component of Barcelona’s midfield, and his potential departure would cause a significant void in their team. Despite the financial lure from MLS teams and Saudi Arabian clubs, the proposition of playing with his close friend Messi and under the tutelage of Xavi is a strong factor that weighs heavily on his mind, and he may ultimately opt to remain at Barcelona until 2024.

As per a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Busquets is highly likely to accept Barcelona’s offer of a contract extension and commit his services for another season. This is, in part, due to his conviction that Messi will return and his desire to share the pitch with his friend once again, with whom he has shared a long-standing camaraderie.

The Camp Nou faithful will be eagerly awaiting the decision of the captain, with his potential departure posing a significant loss for the club. Nonetheless, it is apparent that Busquets’ loyalties lie with the club, and he is keen on pursuing his career alongside Messi, with whom he shares a special bond.
