FC Barcelona have been suffering from injuries ever since the current season kicked off, and the month of January was no different in this regard. However, going into February, things are seemingly getting better for Xavi.

Inigo Martinez was already available for the match against Alaves, and as already reported here, Xavi can have up to three more players back for selection for the upcoming game against Granada. These three players are Raphinha, Ter Stegen, and Sergi Roberto.

These players have not played since Xavi’s announcement that he will leave the club at the end of the season, and one of these players, Sergi Roberto, took to social media to show his commitment to the departing head coach.

As SPORT has reported, the Barcelona captain shared some pictures of the team celebrating a goal which were accompanied by the following message:

“After a very complicated January, we are more united than ever, and we will give our all in these four months for all of you and for the coach. Força Barça.”

Xavi’s departure from the club will significantly impact the team going forward. However, Roberto is one player who will feel the effects of this decision more keenly than others, because Barcelona officials are not likely to extend his contract that is going to end after this season, but Xavi had been asking them to give another year to the team captain.

As things stand, Barcelona were unable to win the Spanish Super Cup and have also been eliminated from the Copa del Rey. They currently trail the league leaders Real Madrid with eight points, but have a favorable stretch of fixtures coming up, which can see them reduce this gap.

Champions League is another trophy that the team is fighting for, and their mettle will be tested in this tournament in the upcoming game against Napoli. But despite the difficulties, Xavi and Roberto will both be looking to get at least one trophy before they depart their beloved club.
