Not everything that FC Barcelona focuses on is limited to the sporting achievements of the team. Instead, the club also has to look at things from a financial lens and a business-based perspective. That is the way Barcelona will ultimately be able to keep paying their bills, after all.

Football is more than just a sport, and it has translated itself well as a business as well. That is why, from time to time, some decisions are motivated by monetary objectives as well, no matter how insignificant they may seem to the people who look at things from the outside.

One such decision may already have been put into motion and it could be a jackpot for the Catalan club. As highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona want to take advantage of the recent record-breaking and head-turning performances from Lamine Yamal and hope to capitalize on them.

Now among the biggest global sensations right now in football, Yamal has the chance to become the biggest poster boy that Barça has had since the departure of Lionel Messi. To make it official, however, Barça are already hoping to give Yamal the number ‘10’, and they believe it could greatly propel shirt sales for the club as well.

However, the young 17-year-old winger is mindful of a lot of things himself. While he would undoubtedly love to be able to wear the ‘10’ himself someday, he understands that the number currently belongs to Ansu Fati, the young forward who seemed destined to succeed after Messi.

That is why, even Barcelona have come to respect this decision a lot. Ultimately, if Yamal does end up with that specific kit number, it would be a decision that would be made only after getting consent from Fati himself, and that is the most ethical way to go about it.

As for Yamal, the youngster has already been registered as a first-team player for next season. Moreover, he stated in a recent press conference that he would be more than pleased to have the number ‘17’ as well. However, only time will tell what the future holds for the young Barcelona prodigy in terms of both sporting and marketing excellence.
