Despite their fragile economic conditions, FC Barcelona made several additions to their squad in the last summer transfer window. These additions significantly improved Xavi’s squad, but this improvement is yet to be seen in the results obtained on the pitch.
As a result, more acquisitions may be needed this January, for the club to be able to compete for the major titles in the second half of this season.
As of now, only Vitor Roque has been added to the Barcelona squad, and his incorporation can turn out to be decisive for the second stretch of the season. However, Gavi’s ACL tear significantly changes things for Barcelona, and Xavi is looking to have another midfielder in this winter window.
According to the latest update from SPORT in this regard, the Barcelona President, Sporting Director, and Head Coach held a summit in Saudi Arabia, in which Laporta promised Xavi to do everything possible to generate the resources and sign a midfielder in January.
The signing of this midfielder depends mainly on the sale of Barca Studios in January. The club has made significant progress in this regard and expects to reach a decisive breakthrough in the coming week, but nothing is certain for now.
If an agreement can be reached for this sale, Barcelona will get a payment of €40 million, which would help the club immensely in the pursuit of a midfielder wanted by Xavi.
Meanwhile, Deco and Xavi have also been discussing the various targets that should be pursued if the funds are generated, and a consensus has been reached for two players.
These players have not been mentioned by SPORT, but the report claims that the club is looking for a player with good physicality, ball control, and international experience. Things are going in the right direction, but Barcelona do not have too much time on their hands.
