FC Barcelona had a very good transfer window this summer as they bought in several stars and significantly strengthened their squad. These acquisitions were made even more valuable as the club had to make them with a minimum of financial margin.
When the next summer transfer window arrives, Barcelona will once again have their hands tied by their financial conditions. In order to compete with the European elite in the market from this position of disadvantage, Deco has already started planning for the coming summer window and has identified the defensive midfield position as an area that needs reinforcing.
Barcelona and Deco interested in Brazilian midfielder
According to SPORT, Barcelona are smelling a sporting opportunity which they will try to exploit in the coming summer, i.e. Gabriel Moscardo. The 18-year-old defensive pivot plays for the Brazilian club Corinthians, and Deco already tried to tie him up before officially becoming the Sporting Director at Barcelona between May and June.
Moscardo is having a wonderful year and was previously closing in on an agreement to join Chelsea. However, negotiations for his move to England have bogged down, and Deco has already made contact with Corinthians to show Barcelona’s interest in the youngster.
Barcelona do not want to miss this market opportunity
As has been the policy at Barcelona for the last few years, the Catalans are looking to tie down the midfielder before his price goes out of their reach. They have already signed Vitor Roque with such a scenario in mind and now may also splash the cash on Moscardo, who fits Barcelona’s style of play more readily than that of Pochetinno’s Chelsea.
Deco will be looking to go into this operation with significant vigor, because he senses that the opportunity to get him may not remain for long, especially keeping in view Moscardo’s age and growth trajectory. However, he will still have to compete with the likes of Chelsea to get the defensive midfielder to Barcelona next summer.
