One of the positions that FC Barcelona will be looking to strengthen above everything else in the coming summer transfer window is the midfield. While the Catalans have some very capable midfielders like Ilkay Gundogan, Pedri, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong, there is a clear need for another midfield pivot.

Barcelona brought Oriol Romeu last summer as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, but after a promising start to the season, the midfielder was unable to retain his position in the starting lineup. As a result, Romeu has not been getting many minutes on the pitch recently.

However, the La Masia graduate can still be of use to Barcelona. As labeled by Mundo Deportivo, Aleix Garcia is one of the priority objectives for the Blaugranes in the next summer transfer window, and the entity headed by Joan Laporta has already communicated its interest in Garcia to Girona.

However, there is a controversy regarding the release clause of Aleix Garcia, as Girona claim that it is set at €20 million, but Barcelona have got information that it lies between €14-15 million.

Thus, Deco and his staff will be looking to get the player by paying the latter figure, but this figure can be lowered even further if other players are made a part of the operation.

In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia, and Pablo Torre are three options that generate interest from Girona, and are options for Barcelona to make a part of the Aleix Garcia operation to get his price reduced.

Oriol Romeu shone at Girona in the last season, and it was his performances in the Catalan club that made Barcelona bet on him to be Busquets’ successor.

Similarly, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre are both on loan at Girona from Barcelona, and the former is an integral part of Michel’s squad. The defender has started 15 games for Michel up to now, and Torre has started three but has been an important player off the bench.

Thus, while all these three players will be attractive for Girona, Michel’s club will have to weigh whether they can afford to part with their captain to get all or some of these three players next summer.
