One of the important pieces of work that FC Barcelona have to undertake in the upcoming transfer window is to offload the players that are not needed in the squad. One such player is Franck Kessie, for whom the club is looking for possible buyers this summer.
FC Barcelona are currently in a squad planning stage, as they look to bolster their team for the next season. A number of positions have been identified for strengthening, but in order to make any new signings, the club would have to generate funds and make space in their wage bill.
This can only be achieved by selling the players that have significant value in the market but are not essential for the Barcelona squad going forward. One such asset for the club is Franck Kessie.
The Ivorian joined the club last summer but has not been able to get a starting spot fixed in the team, with Xavi preferring other options like Pedri, De Jong, Busquets, and Gavi. While Kessie has given decent performances in some of his outings in recent months, he is still not expected to break into Xavi’s starting 11 in the near future.
As a result, offloading him makes sense for the club. His performances in the Serie A were vital for Milan in their quest for the Scudetto, and the player still retains a demand in the Italian market.
Inter Milan have been particularly interested in the player, and the latest reports from Javi Miguel of Diario AS claim that the Italian side has already made an offer for the player.
However, negotiations are only in their earlier stages up to now, and the two sides are far from FC Barcelona’s asking price of €25-30 million. Inter Milan want the operation to involve a player exchange, with Brozovic earlier being reported as the player to come to Barcelona in exchange for Kessie.
