Many at FC Barcelona are curious as to who ends up leaving the club over the summer to generate funds. Some forwards in particular are seen as the correct departures in order to generate the most substantial revenue.
Amongst those forwards is Brazilian winger Raphinha. The 26-year-old forward was brought in from English Premier League side Leeds United over the 2022 summer transfer window for a fee of around €70 million.
Now, following his first season in La Liga, the player is already reportedly the favorite to depart the club in order to generate sizeable funds.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, as Barcelona were conducting their bus parade after becoming the mathematical winners of La Liga Santander 2022/2023, Raphinha was interviewed by Barca TV, whom he told he wishes to continue having success with the team and achieve even greater things:
…We worked a lot for this, we knew what we wanted, and crowning the League with this rúa is spectacular. It’s better than I imagined. I would ask people to continue supporting us that next season we are going to try something more and go for the maximum titles we can get…
Clearly showcasing his intent on staying with the club, it remains to be seen just how well proceedings go in terms of transfer negotiations.
Reportedly, a really enticing offer from Newcastle United remains on the table, but it would need the player’s own approval as well to go through with.
In terms of performance, it is not so that he has had an elite season but neither has he had a poor one. Accumulating 10 goals and a further 12 assists, the player was dependable and even had his fair share of clutch moments for the Catalans.
