FC Barcelona were able to get another victory on the road as they visited the Canary Islands for their last game against Las Palmas. The three points obtained from this trip allowed the Blaugranes to remain at the top of the league table despite their rivals, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, both also winning their games this week.
However, as has been the case for several recent La Liga games, this game also had some controversial moments. For instance, Eric Garcia highlighted a bizarre episode with the usage of VAR, while Marc Casado also highlighted how Las Palmas got some unfair advantage.
Another controversial episode from this game was a harsh tackle suffered by Lamine Yamal as Alex Munoz stomped his foot but the action was not deemed a foul by the referee, Cordero Vega.
As Diario AS has reported, the young winger took to social media after the game to showcase his disagreement with the referee’s decision and to show the intensity of the tackle that he had to suffer without any repercussions for the aggressor.
In a video uploaded by the Barcelona winger, one can see his sock covered in blood. The video was accompanied by a small text, which went as: “It’s not a foul!”, and with two laughing emoticons of another emoticon of a person covering his face with his hand.
As already noted, Lamine Yamal has been on the receiving end of a high number of fouls this season, averaging 2 fouls suffered every game. Some of these fouls have been particularly harsh, including the one he suffered in the game against Leganes, which forced him to spend several weeks on the sidelines.
Hopefully, such fouls will be called in the coming few weeks to ensure the aggressors are more thoughtful while making such harsh tackles and to avoid missing the Barcelona winger for another couple of games.
