The current circumstances at FC Barcelona concerning their restrictive economical conditions make it a necessity for the Catalan club to part ways with certain players in order to create openings in the wage budgets and generate additional funds.
Due to these restrictions, Barcelona have been unable to freely pursue top-level players as the transfer fee demands of their respective clubs cannot be met by a Blaugrana side currently anchored by said restrictions. As a result, the Catalans have been focused on offloading a handful of players.
One such player was Spanish forward Ferran Torres, who Barcelona brought in from Manchester City for a total package of around €55 million with the sum still yet to be fully paid back, but it seems now that the Spaniard has no particular interest in leaving nor listening to offers at the moment.
As has been reported by SPORT and also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the player has explicitly confirmed his desire to stay and continue at FC Barcelona despite recent rumors of a potential link to Aston Villa, stating:
I can’t wait to continue at Barcelona. I’m really happy at Barça and my plan is to continue at the club.
Moreover, the player remarked that he is not phased by the rumors and has no intention of listening to other offers particularly as he is on vacation and currently does not want to indulge in business-related ordeals.
When asked about the offers in question, he had the following to say:
I don’t know because I have my phone on Airplane mode and I don’t see any messages.
The player is reportedly not in the plans for FC Barcelona heading into the new season, with Xavi Hernandez in particular having other stars above him in the pecking order of forwards at the club.
It remains to be seen whether Ferran Torres remains at FC Barcelona at the end of the summer transfer window, but if reports are to be believed, the Catalan club is trying to ensure his departure as soon as possible.
