The Brazilian striker, Vitor Roque, who arrived at Barcelona only in the last winter transfer window, has not had a memorable start to life at his new club. The youngster arrived with great hopes around him, but up to now, has been unable to convince Xavi to give him a somewhat prominent role in the squad.

In such circumstances, reports from Spanish media have linked him with a loan move away from Barcelona. The Blaugranes believe that he will be able to better adapt to European and Spanish football at a club with less pressure than Barcelona, but this is not the only reason why a loan for Roque is being contemplated.

The contractual situation of Roque is also somewhat complicated at the moment. The 19-year-old Brazilian was registered last winter as Barcelona made space in their wage bill with Gavi’s serious injury that was expected to keep him out for the rest of the season.

As a result, the Catalans will have to register the Brazilian once again with La Liga this summer and there would be no such situation as in January, as Gavi will also have to be registered for the next season.

In such a context, Mundo Deportivo claims that there is a possibility that Vitor Roque will be a free agent this summer unless Barcelona find a way to register him with La Liga or he agrees to go on a loan.

The report has mentioned two previous cases of Inigo Martinez and Ilkay Gundogan, as both these players also faced such a possibility after joining FC Barcelona.

However, it needs to be kept in mind here that both these players had specific clauses in their contracts with the Blaugrana club that allowed them to leave for free if they were not registered with La Liga.

As for Roque, it is not yet clear whether he has such a clause in his contract. Even if there is such a clause, this scenario can be realized only in the extreme, and hopefully, Barcelona will find a solution to this problem well before this stage is reached.
