Beyond any shadow of a doubt, Barcelona acknowledge the quality of the players they already possess. While a lot of criticism has come towards the way of La Blaugrana, it persists only because there is belief that this team can do better. With the quality that Barcelona has, expectations are only natural.
However, such quality also attracts interest from outsiders who become potential suitors. One of the players from Barcelona who undoubtedly has a lot of suitors due to this is Ronald Araujo, the 24-year-old Uruguayan defender.
From among his potentially multiple suitors, Bayern Munich undoubtedly manages to stand out. The Bavarian giants are not only the most heavily linked club to Araujo, but are also prepared to offer the most lucrative deal for him.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, that is not at all the direction in which Barcelona wants to go. Contrary to reports suggesting that the Catalan giants may look at Araujo as a potential major sale in the summer, that is reportedly not the case as per MD.
For Barcelona, Araujo remains one of their captains and one of their most structurally important players. The Catalan club is not willing to part ways with him, and they recognize him as one of the absolute best central defenders in world football.
Knowing his quality and proven experience, Barça do not consider him a player worth parting ways with. Moreover, they are already planning on renewing his current contract which expires in 2026.
Both Barcelona president Joan Laporta and club director Deco are on the same page in this scenario, and that page asserts that Araujo has to be renewed.
Irrespective of whether or not Bayern can launch an offensive worth getting the attention of Barcelona, the Catalans are rather clear. Araujo remains one of their few structurally untouchable players, and that fact remains true irrespective of any attractive offer that comes their way.
The only situation in which a parting of ways may be considered is if Araujo himself wishes to leave. Moreover, it would also require Bayern to put up an offer that would truly convince Barcelona. However, La Blaugrana see all these things happening as quite unlikely, and believe that the Uruguayan’s heart is settled in Barcelona.
