By halftime, Barcelona are currently losing 2-1 to Granada in La Liga. The game even looked dead and buried at a point when the Catalans had no goals to their names but then a certain miracle came about just before the half-time whistle that gave life to La Blaugrana.

Prior to the 45th minute, Barcelona were already trailing by two goals to nil thanks to a brilliant brace by Granada forward Bryan Zaragoza. However, as soon as additional time kicked in, Barcelona managed to get one back through a historic goal.

16 years and 87 days, that is the age of young Lamine Yamal as of today. The goal that brings back hope to La Blaugrana comes through the academy graduate who now holds the title of being the youngest-ever goalscorer in La Liga history.

He breaks the record previously held by Fabrice Olinga, who broke it back in 2012 when he was aged 16 years, three months and six days. Interestingly, this would have been the last chance for Yamal to break this particular record given the upcoming international break.

Initially starting off as an attack from the left flank, Gavi received the ball and laid it onto the path of a lurking Joao Felix. The Portuguese international then tried to take a shot at goal that just got smothered but traveled along stubbornly into the feet of Lamine Yamal who just had to poke it into an empty net.

The goal marks the very first of any kind that the 16-year-old has scored for the FC Barcelona first team. In terms of goal contributions, he has already provided an assist to Gavi against Villarreal in the 4-3 victory earlier in La Liga.

Apart from that, the 16-year-old winger has been fundamental so far this season. Despite not being directly involved, several of his creations have resulted in Barcelona taking advantage and scoring from them. Only a mere teenager right now, Yamal has already shown that there is much more to him than meets the eye.

With the second half against Granada up ahead, Barcelona will come in to fight for all three points. Lamine Yamal himself will want to prove a point and help his team achieve that goal along with the help of the remaining players on the field.
