FC Barcelona have been struggling with injuries this season and it has been quite detrimental to the club. Matches that should be won rather easily are being contested until the dying embers of the game, control of a match often slips away from Barcelona as well from time to time.
Most of this is due to the fact that Barcelona have lost many key stars. Several first-team starters are currently out injured, and Barça’s performances showcase that absence. One would have to look no further than Barcelona vs Granada to deduce the current state of the reigning La Liga champions.
Several key players injured
Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Jules Kounde are all currently unavailable. Suffering from their unique injuries, the players continue their respective recoveries hoping to come back as soon as possible. However, instead of going down, the injury list keeps on piling up.
A new addition to the list
According to journalist Javi Miguel of Diario AS, FC Barcelona fullback Alejandro Balde is now also injured. Initially reported to have had discomfort with his adductors, it is now being said that the player will be unavailable for the next 10-12 days.
This would mean that the 19-year-old fullback may end up missing the first game for Barcelona after the return to club football. Set to welcome Athletic Bilbao on the 22nd of October at the Montjuic Stadium, it is a vital match that Barcelona will want to win.
Chance to feature against Bilbao
However, journalist Alfredo Martinez (h/t Barca Centre) believes that Balde could still feature against Bilbao. It is not yet completely ruled out that he may participate in the game despite his recovery time ending around the same time as the game itself.
The loss of Balde is another hard-hitting one for Barcelona. Now out of hand, the injuries already suffered within the span of a month are unnatural. This constant increase in the injury list is a massively negative thing for Barça and the club have to do something about it as soon as possible.
