Barcelona working on an economic injection to finalize contract registrations with La Liga

FC Barcelona have made a number of important additions to their squad this summer and have also finalized the contract renewals of some of their highly important players. However, these processes of signings and renewals are yet to be completed as Barcelona have to register these contract with La Liga.

The Catalan club has renewed five players in this summer window, including Gavi, Araujo, Sergi Roberto, Marcos Alonso, and Inaki Pena, while the club is also reportedly close to a renewal of Alejandro Balde.

Three new players have also been signed: Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, and Oriol Romeu. Vitor Roque has also been signed, but his arrival can be deferred till January.

However, the contracts of all these players are yet to be registered with La Liga, and Barcelona will have to come within their Financial Fair Play scope to materialize these registrations. As SPORT reports, the club has been making progress towards this aim, but despite lowering their wage bill by $200 million, further reductions are still required.

The Catalans were aiming to achieve this reduction by selling some fringe players, but the club has not been lucky enough to materialize any significant sales yet. The club has also ruled out the sale of an important player, and thus, Barcelona will have to look at other ways to enhance their income.

Seemingly, the Catalans have found such an alternative, as they expect €30 to come into the club’s coffers that was deferred from Socios.com for the sale of Barca Studios as per a report from Mundo Deportivo.

With this income, Barcelona can get a green light this week for the registration of the new contracts of all these players. The report mentions that the club executives are working round the clock to ensure an economic injection that has already been approved by La Liga as a part of the feasibility plan that Barcelona submitted.

The club’s Board of Directors met in the LA Intercontinental Hotel in the USA this week to further work on this plan, and hopefully, this economic injection can come soon enough for the club to bring certainty to the club’s squad for the next season.
