The search for a new right-back continues at FC Barcelona as the club contemplates several options to bring to Camp Nou this summer. Juan Foyth and Joao Cancelo are two of the leading options for the Blaugranes.

The club has long suffered from the lack of a natural and reliable right back in its squad for a number of seasons now. While Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto, and Ronald Araujo have played in this position this season, the club executives intend to mitigate this situation in the upcoming summer transfer window.

From the options they have at hand, Joao Cancelo and Juan Foyth are the favorites to land at Camp Nou. Mundo Deportivo reports that the club is closer to a deal with Joao Cancelo than Juan Foyth. The Portuguese defender is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Manchester City, but this loan agreement is not expected to go beyond this season.

His strained relationship with the Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, also means he will not be remaining at City beyond the summer, and it is increasingly likely that he will try to find a new club in the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona hope that their relationship with Jorge Mendes will allow them to obtain Cancelo at a favorable price. However, the competition they are facing from the likes of Real Madrid and Arsenal can complicate things.

However, the fact that Foyth is valued at €40 million by Villareal makes Cancelo the better option financially, as he would be coming on a loan deal or at an affordable price. While the club likes Foyth as well, there have been no contacts between Barcelona and Villareal for the fullback.

Barcelona have liked Joao Cancelo since his time at Valencia. While he has played for several other clubs since then, the Catalans still remain interested in him, as he can be the solution to their long-time right-back problem.
