Arnau Tenas has established himself as one of the brightest young talents coming through the ranks of FC Barcelona. Despite his seemingly high ceiling, he faces considerable competition in the goalkeeping department, as Ter Stegen and Inaki Pena place ahead of him in the pecking order.
Having proven himself as a shrewd communicator and multifaceted keeper at La Masia, Barcelona recognize they have a gem at their disposal, yet his talents are not being regularly put to the test as a bench warmer.
Consequently, SPORT have come out to claim that there are complications emerging in the future of the young goalkeeper. In light of Tenas receiving lucrative offers that seduce him with increased play time, the Catalans are eager to present him with a contract renewal.
What’s set in stone is the Blaugranes’ willingness to see Tenas continue, but an effort will have to be made, owing to the unique position the player finds himself in. Not only does he have two players ahead of him, but rival clubs are attempting to entice him with better offers.
The sports department at Barcelona hopes to settle the issue immediately. The club, unwilling to renew a contract it deemed antiquated and impossible in the current economic climate, now consider an attempt to create a persuasive proposition for the player. Still, with the Spaniard now a free agent, his representative has received a number of promising offers.
Tenas’ decision will likely be made after discussing with Barcelona and hearing what they have to offer first. Even so, with the other proposals that he has on the table, it cannot be ruled out that he eventually chases a new challenge.
For now, after spending a season playing with the subsidiary and traveling with the first team, Arnau Tenas is on vacation, relaxing, and unplugging. Nonetheless, a decision on his future will be made soon.
