While youth players from around the world aspire to train in academies such as those at FC Barcelona, there comes the time to rise to bigger occasions. Following their development, youngsters yearn for these opportunities to make the leap to Europe’s elite stage.
Chadi Riad is a Moroccan player who currently plays as a center-back for Barca Atletic in the Spanish Third Division. 19 years old and currently boasting a valuation of €500,000 as per Transfermarkt, the player is seen to have massive potential for the future.
As per SPORT, however, the player may just find himself in a scenario where he potentially could leave the club entirely. Clubs in the Netherlands especially have kept a close eye on his development. Most recently, Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk has been the side to show the most intent in acquiring the talents of young Riad.
Since reports from trusted sources have confirmed that Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez is set to join FC Barcelona for the 2023/2024 season, it has made the young La Masia center-back even more wary of his chances to break through to the first team; that being his long-standing goal within the Barcelona system.
Should Barcelona Atletic manage to clinch promotion and make their way upwards to the Segunda Division, Chadi Riad would get the incentive he wanted to play at a level higher than Barca Atletic were currently playing within and receive the opportunity to play against opposition of a higher grade as he makes his way up.
Moreover, he would continue to work his way towards making his place on a permanent basis within the first team, as for now his biggest connection with the latter has been his debut under Xavi Hernandez at El Sadar in November of 2022, where he came on as a late 89th-minute substitute for Pedri Gonzalez in a 2-1 victory over Osasuna.
