The curse of the international break has always been a rather consistent one for FC Barcelona. La Blaugrana are hardly the most fortunate of teams either way, but international duty really seems to mess up their plans almost every single time. Injuries, without a doubt, remain the biggest of worries at FC Barcelona as a consequence.

Many key players such as Gavi, Pedri, and even Ronald Araujo, have suffered injuries lately due to their most recent international leaves, and two of those players are still in recovery. Every single time the international break roles around, Barça are impacted in a typically detrimental way.

Unfortunately, it seems that those bad fortunes are set to continue rather than be toned down as many Barcelona fans would have hoped for. The latest update from the Spanish camp arrives with the information that yet another Barcelona player has been injured.

As highlighted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, 21-year-old Barcelona midfielder and Olympic Gold winner Fermin Lopez has just suffered a muscular injury while away on international duty. Now, however, the player has been sent back from the Under-21 Spanish National team camp.

According to additional information provided by Adria Albets, moreover, the exact region of the injury is in the quadriceps of the player’s left leg. Fortunately, however, he does state that initial impressions suggest that it is not a major injury and the player should be sidelined for around a month at best.

However, further examinations are Barcelona are expected that will reveal more information about the extent and severity of the injury itself. For now, there is hope that it is nothing serious and fortunately for Barça, half of that duration may end up being eaten up by the international break itself.

Furthermore, there are other players who are expected to return from injury right after the international break. For Hansi Flick, having most of his squad available would be the perfect scenario, but that has not been the case thus far at least. Even though Fermin Lopez has not played too many minutes during the official season, he still remains a key player for depth and his absence will be felt.
