FC Barcelona continue on their path to clear up their financial space and create openings to register current players with pending contracts and be able to bring in new talents to improve their current squad.
One of the names that in recent weeks has gained momentum on the list of players Barcelona considers disposable or at the very least not integral to their plans for next season is Nico Gonzalez.
As per a report from SPORT, Nico Gonzalez, who would be returning from a loan spell at Valencia in the summer, is set to depart Barcelona on yet another loan during the transfer window.
The club reported to be interested in Nico Gonzalez is none other than fellow La Liga outfit Real Betis. The side from Betis are believed to be considering the Barcelona graduate as a great summer target.
Despite the player’s difficult season at Valencia primarily due to injuries, it appears that there are still other sides that continue to think of the midfielder as a dependable asset to have in their respective teams.
FC Barcelona themselves would prefer to sell the midfielder rather than send him out on a loan yet again like last season, but as the report suggests, it appears that a loan to Real Betis may end up materializing as the likely outcome.
For the 21-year-old, the experience in Valencia was pivotal in ensuring he was afforded actual time on the field against high-level opposition and consequently helped him evade almost an entire season he would have had to spend on the bench at Barcelona with minimal contributions to their season.
The young Spaniard knows that he would not hold much importance in the eyes of Xavi Hernandez in terms of playing time yet again next season due to the sheer quantity of quality in the midfield alongside the addition of more expected recruits, so it best suits his personal growth to take his talents elsewhere.
