Ever since he broke through the ranks at FC Barcelona, Lamine Yamal has been making the headlines. The youngster has achieved a lot in the last few months and is on course to become one of the very best players in the world at a very young age.
The youngster made his debut with FC Barcelona on 29th April this year, aged only 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days, thus becoming the youngest player to ever debut with Barcelona. Now, the player has also been called up by Spain, and he will also be making his senior international debut in the coming days.
Surprising idol for Yamal
Thus, as he has been catapulted to fame at a young age, he is also getting an increasing media spotlight. The youngster recently appeared in an interview with Diario AS while he was with the Spanish national team in which he was asked some personal questions regarding his career.
One of the questions he was asked was regarding his first idol. Yamal had a surprising answer to this question, as he picked the former Real Madrid forward, Marco Asensio, as one of the players who had impressed him the most.
This answer was not one that most people would have been expecting to hear from Yamal, and the youngster himself was aware of the peculiarity of his answer. Thus, he also expressed that he was embarrassed to name such an unlikely player as his idol.
Asensio looking for a turn in his career
Like Yamal, Asensio also showed a lot of promise in his early days as a Real Madrid player. The Spaniard scored some memorable goals from distance in these early appearances but struggled to keep up the good form as his career with Los Blancos advanced.
He has signed with PSG this summer after fulfilling his Real Madrid contract. Meanwhile, Yamal will be playing with Asensio as Spain takes on Georgia and Cyprus this week and looks to qualify for the UEFA EURO 2024 Cup.
