FC Barcelona came into this summer transfer window with a clear aim of selling some of their players to raise much-needed funds and to create some margin in their wage bill. However, the last few days of the transfer window are upon us, and the Catalan club is still looking to finalize some of its sales.
The attacking line is currently stacked at Barcelona, and the Blaugranes are looking to sell at least one of the attackers to reduce the players in this area and also to lower their wage bill.
Ansu Fati was the main candidate to be sold, but due to his reluctance to leave, and the greater demand for Abde in the market, the Moroccan seems more likely to leave the club in the coming days.
Strong offer from Germany
As already reported here, Bayer Leverkusen have been one of the teams interested in the Moroccan winger this summer. However, the departure of Ousmane Dembele and Abde’s performances in the last few matches led to speculation that Abde is going to stay at the club, as Xavi trusts him to play an important role in the squad this season.
Now, SPORT reports that the Germans are still interested in the winger, and are pushing to sign him once again. The Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso, likes the forward, and his club is willing to offer up to €20 million for him. Other sides like Real Betis and Aston Villa have also been linked with Abde, but Leverkusen remains the strongest contender for his signature.
Barcelona can be tempted to sell the forward
Meanwhile, Barcelona want the situation of the Moroccan forward to be resolved before the summer transfer window closes. Xavi has already communicated his desire to have Abde with the squad for this season, especially after the departure of Dembele, as Abde also has a similarly explosive style as that of the Frenchman.
However, the rise of Lamine Yamal can change the scenario for Abde, as game time is crucial for the development of Yamal at this stage of his career. Thus, as the club does not feel any particular need for Abde, the €20 million fee offered by Leverkusen would be more than welcome, as it can help the club activate its operations for players like Joao Felix.
