FC Barcelona are no strangers to making difficult decisions when accordingly desperate scenarios arise.
The sales of otherwise “untouchable” stars become more and more possible in such situations, and as an increased number of reports start to appear regarding such sales, the most recent update on the potential departure of a particular winger arrives as well.
Ousmane Dembele, one of the most vital pieces of Xavi Hernandez’s Blaugrana setup, is next in line to have a major European giant seeking his services. The Frenchman has attracted the interest of Thomas Tuchel, who is currently the head coach of German giants FC Bayern Munich according to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo.
With a storied past between Ousmane Dembele and Thomas Tuchel, with both sharing the roles of player and coach respectively during their time together at Borussia Dortmund, it is no surprise that Bayern’s new head coach would want a star from his managerial past reunited with him in the present as Bayern hope to compete for the UEFA Champions League next season, with the failures of this season fresh in their mind.
FC Barcelona themselves are currently negotiating a contract renewal with the Frenchman themselves, with the winger’s contract running out in 2024 and Xavi wanting the winger to stay beyond that period.
If the Catalan club fails in renewing Ousmane Dembele’s contract, his release clause will be set at exactly €50 million, a price tag that most top European clubs will lunge at first sight for should it mean acquiring the services of arguably one of the most dangerous wingers in the continent.
On the other hand, with the possible departure of Bayern Munich winger Sadio Mane, it is no secret that Tuchel would want an elite winger to reinforce the frontline after the departure of the Senegalese player.
