FC Barcelona have been conceding goals at a far greater rate this season than they did last season. This high rate of concession, along with the lack of effectiveness in front of the goal, is mainly contributing to the team’s problems this season.

However, it cannot be doubted that the Catalans have a world-class defensive line. One of the components of this defensive line, Ronald Araujo, has been in the news recently, having been linked with Bayern Munich for a move either in January or in the summer window.

There were reports that the Bayern Munich head coach, Thomas Tuchel, had talked with the Uruguayan and proposed a move to Bavaria. While these reports were later denied, both by the player and the coach’s entourage, Araujo still remains strongly linked with the German giants.

Now, as SPORT has reported, the journalist who broke the news of Bayern’s interest in Araujo has provided another update on this operation. The Journalist claims that the Bavarians have been informed that signing Araujo in January would be extremely difficult, and thus Bayern have ruled out his signing for the upcoming winter market.

However, the Germans are still hopeful that they can sign the defender next summer. Still, they are also aware that Barcelona want to extend Araujo’s current contract, which already goes till 2026 and has a €1 billion release clause.

For now, Bayern are looking to undertake negotiations with Barcelona, and the weak financial conditions of the Catalan club will be a factor that can make Barcelona agree to a high-price move.

However, the Blaugranes do not want to lose one of their captains and the player that their fans identify with the most in the current squad.

Thus, even though a move has been ruled out for January, Araujo will remain linked with the German giants for some time to come.
