FC Barcelona and other top clubs in football always prefer to be one step ahead when it comes to transfers. Knowing their limitations and their strengths can end up going a long way in negotiating favorable deals. However, Barcelona are still yet to distinctively put a specific target in front of them.

The Catalan club hopes to recruit a new pivot, a position in which they have greatly suffered ever since the departure of Sergio Busquets. However, finding a replacement for a man who understood Barça’s positional values as well as Busquets is a task that can almost be labeled as being impossible or very close to it.

That is why Barcelona are no longer attempting to do that at all. Instead, the club wants to put their faith in more modern pivots and defensive midfielders, and one of the key names on the table for Barcelona is that of Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich.

In Barça’s pursuit of Kimmich, La Blaugrana have now been handed a very positive update. As highlighted by SPORT, German giants Bayern Munich are one step away from being able to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham, who they believe is the perfect alternative to the Barcelona target currently in their ranks.

The reasoning behind this advancement in the Palhinha deal is to ensure that Bayern are secured moving forward. Furthermore, it is an indication that the Bavarian club is truly willing to let go of Kimmich for the right price, something Barcelona are hoping to match.

As per recent reports, Bayern would be willing to listen to offers close to €30-40 million. However, that is already a steep and significant amount for a club like Barcelona, whose financial issues are quite well-documented already. Add to that the player’s reportedly immense salary, and that truly becomes a major headache for Barcelona.
