Regardless of their economic problems, FC Barcelona remains a great attraction for superstars. Whether it be the stars of Europe or the kings of South America, the Blaugranes are a universal pull of sorts. Even now, riddled with debt and uncertainty, Barcelona continues to make players think twice.

However, some targets in the footballing world are pursued out of necessity. One of those targets for Barcelona has reportedly been Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. Since the Catalan giants need a proper pivot, the German’s name was among their top priorities.

Yet, due to their financial problems, a solution could not be finalized. Kimmich is one of the world’s most sought-after players, and is already contracted to Bayern Munich. Given those various factors, it became clear to see that only a grand offer could take him away.

However, fortunately for Barcelona, there seems to be a slight worry in Bavaria. As highlighted by BILD, Bayern Munich are a bit uneasy about Kimmich and his current contract. Valid until 2025, the German giants are worried that Kimmich is running it out for one simple reason.

As per BILD, Bayern’s worst fear remains that Kimmich will join Barcelona once his contract runs out. This would lead to him joining the Catalan giants as a free agent and one that would not bring a single penny in the coffers of Bayern Munich themselves.

Many reports over the past few months and perhaps even before that have highlighted the tension building between Bayern and one of their star midfielders.

Kimmich, reportedly, has an issue with the inner workings of the German club. Due to these problems, the 28-year-old has reportedly been quite open to a change of scenery.

For Barcelona, Kimmich joining in 2025 for free would be great news. However, that would also mean having to wait another season without acquiring a proper pivot. Given that Barcelona have already struggled in the ongoing campaign, that seems like a risk that La Blaugrana will likely not take.

However, Bayern are also working overtime to ensure that they can at least get something from Kimmich leaving. For this reason, they are open to negotiating a transfer for him in the summer. Perhaps even Barcelona could take advantage of this.
