Even at their lowest point financially, FC Barcelona still possesses some valuable assets. Beyond just the levers they pulled to get access to more funds, the Blaugrana club has players of great value. In fact, these Barcelona players are even wanted by some of the other European greats.

One such player who continues to have a big market of suitors is Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan defender is a fundamental piece of both Barça’s and Uruguay’s respective puzzles. Beyond just being a key defender for both sides, he also dons the Barcelona armband as a captain.

Consequently, his great qualities and reputation have garnered praise and attention from elsewhere. One team that has reportedly been quite keen on the Uruguayan for a long time now is Bavarian side Bayern Munich, and it seems that their intentions are already quite clear.

As per SPORT, Bayern reportedly already have the funds ready to pursue Araujo’s transfer. At the moment, the proposed amount that Bayern have forwarded through an intermediary is speculated to be close to the €100 million mark. While SPORT confirms that this is not an official proposal, it is still what the Bavarians are open to offering.

They reportedly already have everything in order to move for the player if they receive the green light to do so. The Bavarians are reportedly quite eager to bring Araujo over to the Bundesliga, as they consider him a crucial missing piece for themselves.

Ideally, Barcelona would not sell Araujo under any given circumstances or to any kind of proposal. However, the economic condition of Barcelona is certainly not in an ideal place right now. Therefore, they must take into account their own financial difficulties.

Furthermore, Barcelona reportedly has some unfinished dealings with Araujo that must also be considered. When the Uruguayan defender last signed a contract in 2022, he gave up a part of his economic demands in exchange for future security financially.

This meant being rewarded adequately for his position and role within the team. He signed until 2026 back then, but he has thus far not been accommodated accordingly.

There is a clear understanding that economic proposals from outside of Barcelona will outweigh the ones from within, but Araujo’s commitment has thus far been completely towards Barça.

Moving forward, the ideals of both Barcelona and their star defender are clear. The Uruguayan does not think of life outside the Catalan club, and La Blaugrana would love to hold onto him. However, only time will tell the true ending to the tale between Barcelona and Ronald Araujo.
