According to the latest reports from news outlet Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona are interested in acquiring seasoned Frenchman, Benjamin Pavard as a solution to their Right Back woes.
Currently, under a contract at Bayern, reports suggest that he is looking to leave the club soon due to not being able to play supposedly at his now favoured position, which is centre back.
The same report from MD says that he would preferably play at centre back which is why he’s looking to leave his current club in the first place where he has to play more of a fullback role, which makes his acquisition debatable since Barcelona are in a dire need of the latter profile.
The French defender has found form back this year after an average performance last season, looking better defensively in particular. He can offer defensive stability to La Blaugrana and invert in offensive transitions.
Although his demand of playing as a centre-back can be peculiar to deal with since the Garnet and the Blue already have 4 central defenders in Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia.
Also, Chadi Riad seeing his first few minutes in the first team takes the total to 5 centre-backs available at Xavi’s disposal, making the approach fruitful if and only if Benjamin could be convinced to play as a Right Back.
Other clubs like AC Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus are also monitoring the situation. If Barcelona want to have his future tied to Camp Nou, they have to consider some quick moves else there are a lot of suitors for the 26-year-old world cup winner.
How about Pedro Porro?
He is being monitored too, as per reports from Relevo. Do check out our other articles, we’ve covered the news.
