It is not only the incomings that FC Barcelona will focus on this summer transfer window. While arrivals are crucial for the Catalan club to revitalize their squad, there are some requirements they must address as well. These requirements will then help Barcelona in other operations as well.
For instance, the signing of Nico Williams or even Dani Olmo requires Barça to generate enough salary space. At the moment, the limitations within that space continue to frustrate La Blaugrana as they continue to hope for some room to maneuver.
However, despite the guarantees that Barça continue to give to their transfer targets, the club is in urgent need of some departures. Fortunately for them, out-of-favor French defender Clement Lenglet still retains some suitors who would be willing to take him away under certain circumstances.
As highlighted by SPORT, Turkish side Besiktas would be willing to take Lenglet only on a free transfer or a loan deal. This is because they have no intentions of paying a transfer fee to acquire his services this summer and would much rather simply have to focus on his salary if anything.
This prospect could suit him from a sporting point of view. Following his loans to the likes of various English clubs, Lenglet reportedly made it clear that his intentions are to continue playing in Europe and that served as the foundation to the player’s decision to reject possible offers from the Middle East as well.
In case of a loan deal, the Turkish side would be willing to contribute towards a part of it. However, in the case of a permanent transfer, they would only accept his arrival with the letter of freedom from Barcelona, an idea that the 29-year-old Frenchman continues to reject.
Unfortunately for the player, Barça have no intentions of keeping him at the club. Instead, they want to ensure his departure in order to save themselves from having to pay his massive salary in this upcoming season. However, only the coming weeks will be able to clarify what his future is for the upcoming campaign.
